Fun Friday 8/5

What did I do my last week before I become an officially employed person? I watched way too much Scandal, made cinnamon bread and wished it was fall instead of summer! That’s normal, right???

I’m such a boring person……

I’d be lying if I said Hobby Lobby wasn’t one of my “happy places”. It definitely is. I love that place. I’m kind of been wishing it was fall these past couple of days and Hobby Lobby didn’t help. Although, I kind of brought the yearning for fall upon myself. I made cinnamon bread the other night and I put a scent in our bathroom wallflower from Bath & Body Works that smells like ‘warm apple pie’. It’s magnificent though! No regrets there!

I had to visit Hobby Lobby to get some new thread for my new cross stitch project. I swear, I don’t know how I don’t have every color. And since they always put out holiday things way too far ahead I got to explore Thanksgiving and Christmas 🙂

20160804_121034I am totally convinced that I’m going to need this little turkey door sign when it actually gets closer to fall. How could you not find him totally adorable?!

I did practice some self control yesterday…because I kind of have a thing for Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang. They did have some Charlie Brown Christmas theme decor.

I feel like they are nutcrackers but I’m not positive. How cute though!!!!

Finally, if you like classic Christmas animation, I think you might like these cuties.

Rudolph and Clarice!! 20160804_122749

If I had a child I would be all over these. I just think they would need them. When I was a kid I had to settle for a Rudolph stuffed animal that only kind of looked like him. Jealous.

I think I just had a little too much fun yesterday exploring Hobby Lobby.

It’s already the end of May?!?!?!! WHAT?!?! How is it that as we age time flies so much quicker than it used to?

I feel like this week has been endless. Seriously. However, I did find out something exciting (well, exciting if you are a school dork like me). I found out our school-wide theme!!! RANCH! How super cute?!

Blueberry Pie and Fruity Crisp??? Like Fruity Pebbles? Kay then…….

I’m not sure how I feel about the 15 different kinds of flavors of Oreos (or whatever the real number is). I feel like when I was a kid there was only one or two kinds. I also remember when they made the inside out Oreo and I thought it was SUCH a big deal.

Fun Things Friday 3/18

20160317_111026

Shopping is so fun 🙂 Especially on spring break. Mom and I ventured to San Antonio Wednesday morning to search out some good finds and fun. This is most of the things we got. Really, I’m most excited about the Snyder’s pretzels (lol) the plastic cups, the Laura Bush book (I’m really itching to read some biographies right now) and the Army green dress we found at Charming Charlie’s.

Did y’all know about Home Goods?! What a neat store! We only have a Marshall’s near were I live, so this was a new place. It’s pretty similar except Home Goods was kind of a Marshall’s on steroids. We got frames for my finished cross stitch patterns so I could hang them around the house and that random Calphon pan with a lid. I was IN NEED of a lid!!! I didn’t realize how many dishes required you to have a pan with a lid.

Also, as I stated previously, it was my first time going into a Whole Foods store. While on this venture, I found these soft pretzels!!!! So, yesterday morning, I baked them 🙂 Turns out they are pretty fantastic.

I also wanna mention this Esty shop before I go. VDazzled is a jewelry shop on Esty by Victoria Pedanou who is a Cancer Biology PhD student. She’s a grad student who creates jewelry in her spare time. Being a girl who loves stud earrings, I think these are spectacular! She does a few other types as well so go check her out 🙂

To The Blueberry!!!

YES!! Nigel St. Nigel! I cannot tell you how many times my family has quoted this very line....:

I just LOVE Psych 🙂 One day, when I eventually buy a new car, I think it MUST be blue just so I can say “to the blueberry!” like they do in the show.

In other news, I’m doing the “wife” thing and I baked blueberry muffins!! 🙂 THE best kind of muffins you can make-your argument is invalid 😉 Aw, now, “don’t be an incorrigible Eskimo pie with a caramel ribbon” like Gus if you don’t like blueberry muffins.  I got the recipe from the lovely Running With Spoons

blueberry oat greek yogurt muffins

I was really nervous about how these were going to turn out while I was mixing them. They have oats in them so I was nervous that they wouldn’t rise or they would be lumpy, but thankfully, to my surprise they turned out fantastic!

Hopefully, Marty will think so too. I think the plan is for him to eat some for breakfast in the morning (I made these at night). I tried part of one and I think they are delicious, however, I’m not sure M always quite appreciates my “healthy” recipes.

ANDDDD now I wanna watch Psych. Dang you, country living where we get terrible internet!!

Psych... this was one of my favorite episodes:

Stress Baking & Pesto Obsession

Living in Texas, you must always be prepared for strange weather that changes at the drop of a hat! So, I decided that I needed to purchase some “pretty” running leggings. You can’t really tell there, but they were this pretty purple and black color. However, because I wasn’t thinking when I bought these I quickly learned (in an unfortunate way) that you should buy running leggings in the CORRECT size.

I bought mine a size bigger because I didn’t want to feel closed in. MAJOR WRONG MOVE. I went home that day and put them on and went for a run. The ENTIRE time I was running I kept having to stop and keep tugging at my pants to pull them off because they would start falling down!!!! Also during this run I got only my left shoe muddy. They are currently working on the road at my house.

20160115_143619

So while this run should’ve been a little relaxing it turned out to be super stressful and kind of awful. What do you do when you come home from a dumb run?! BAKE, of course!! I decided that I wanted to do some stress baking before dinner so I made brownies and then I made spaghetti and garlic bread for dinner. Okay, I didn’t “make” the garlic bread 😉 Eating that garlic bread was a huge win for me because I’m pretty freaked out by eating bread. I think I still might be recovering in my head from eating that. Anyways, it was really tasty.

Now on to random things. I’ve always been into pesto…but not the nutrition it has. I searched Pinterest for a “healthier” version of pesto and found one on Oh She Glows http://ohsheglows.com/2011/08/04/high-protein-oil-free-basil-pesto/ and it is FANTASTIC!! So the other night I made a pesto chicken sandwich with Ezekiel bread. Making that pesto was probably the best decision I’ve made in a good while!!!! What else can I eat pesto with?

20160116_173212

Last random tidbit, I’ve been pretty into eating Twizzlers lately. I’m normally not into that type of food at all. I blame the impulse buy in the long line at the Lowe’s grocery store the other day. But they just have a strange appeal to me right now….I don’t know. But that’s that!

Positive Vibes From Gingerbread Men

Baking Adventures!!!! I’ve been following this blog called Running With Spoons —> http://www.runningwithspoons.com/

And she has a whole bunch of recipes for not only dinner or snacks but some desserts/breakfasts also. Like I mentioned the other day I had these old spotty bananas that I didn’t really want to throw away. It just felt wasteful and I LOVE bananas. So I found a recipe on her blog called Banana Oat Greek Yogurt Muffins.

http://www.runningwithspoons.com/2014/06/24/banana-oat-greek-yogurt-muffins/

They combine so many of my favorite things: bananas, Greek yogurt and chocolate. What’s not to like?! So I made them 🙂

20160108_194339_0

They turned out fantastic! Baking win! I really love the banana and chocolate taste together.

In other news, today I went to run some errands in Angelo and do a little bit of grocery shopping. We didn’t need that much really but we were a little low on a few things that NEED to be stocked in the pantry. While I was at the store I remembered these Pepperidge Farm cookies that a makeup woman on Youtube mentioned the other day (MakeupByTiffanyD). She was actually talking about the Gingerbread Family cookies, but I think that they only make those during the actual holiday season. I settled for these Gingerman cookies instead. I love gingerbread…okay, seriously I love all things that smell and taste like holiday! Except eggnog, I don’t know how I feel about that beverage.

Anyways, I just decided that I needed these so I took a flying leap off a ledge, diverting from the very safe food list (even though I did read the nutrition facts) and bought them. I even HAD to try them in the car.

Aren’t they just super cute on their own?! How can you resist? In case you were wondering, they do smell magnificent and remind me of Christmas. Also, they taste pretty awesome if you are a gingerbread lover like I am.

Not too much going on right now, just trying to keep myself and my thoughts going in a positive direction.

Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day

Chocolate chip cookies anyone??? M wanted some chocolate chip cookies the other night, so yesterday when he went into town I made him get chocolate chips. It gave me a great opportunity to use my new measuring cups (which you can barely see there). It also gave me a good excuse to wear one of the cute aprons I own and bake because I LOVE baking 🙂 I’m not super positive that I’ll be partaking in a whole bunch of this cookie eating, but we shall see. I did eat a little tiny piece. But M is a bit of a cookie monster at times…not constantly though.

Enter a MAJOR fear food here. MAJOR. I’m currently slightly freaking out at the thought of having to eat it later for dinner. M kept seeing commercials for Pizza Hut (he’s also a rather big pizza fan.) So while I was in Angelo today I picked up some pizza for dinner. I’m continually reminding myself to breathe even while writing this post.

I got the veggie lovers pizza. Wayyyyy back in the day pepperoni was always my favorite, but as I grew older and learned more about food nutrition, overall health and my eating disorder began to slowly become more prominent, I switched to cheese. I absolutely love love love cheese pizza! Don’t let me misconstrue that to you AT ALL!!

However, it’s been at least 9 months if not even longer since I’ve eaten pizza that I didn’t physically make for myself at my house. I made it myself so that I knew exactly how many calories and what was in the pizza. So, I figured, if I was going to try this gigantic fear food I was going to have to start small and ease myself into it. Rome wasn’t built in a day, you know!!! I personally don’t think that I can just throw myself into a cheese pizza and come out fully on top of that mountain. I think that this is about forming a new path, fighting the battle and eating some freakin pizza. This is about eating a small amount of a fear food, not consuming a whole entire pizza. This is about taking a small step. I say again, Rome was not built in a day.

20160106_134124

Yes, you do see 2 pizzas here. One is M’s. He likes meat lover’s pizza. I’ve had that kind before, I used to eat it sometimes when he first lived in Houston. I like that kind. It’s pretty darn good, because let’s face it, I’m a carnivore and not a full on vegetarian. However, like I stated above, I can’t just throw myself into a meat lover’s pizza and expect to come out alright. I need to start with something that I can feel like I can conquer and overcome. I don’t care if that’s not what the experts say, it’s what I’m comfortable with.

I’m doing what I need or at least what I think is going to be best for me and not leave me completely collapsed on the bathroom floor. I’m terrified. Very, seriously terrified. But I can do this. I can.

(Side Note: M has been very supportive today and I could not be more thankful for him especially on a day like today.)

Here’s to pizza night!!!
