What did I do my last week before I become an officially employed person? I watched way too much Scandal, made cinnamon bread and wished it was fall instead of summer! That’s normal, right???
I’m such a boring person……
I’d be lying if I said Hobby Lobby wasn’t one of my “happy places”. It definitely is. I love that place. I’m kind of been wishing it was fall these past couple of days and Hobby Lobby didn’t help. Although, I kind of brought the yearning for fall upon myself. I made cinnamon bread the other night and I put a scent in our bathroom wallflower from Bath & Body Works that smells like ‘warm apple pie’. It’s magnificent though! No regrets there!
I had to visit Hobby Lobby to get some new thread for my new cross stitch project. I swear, I don’t know how I don’t have every color. And since they always put out holiday things way too far ahead I got to explore Thanksgiving and Christmas 🙂
I am totally convinced that I’m going to need this little turkey door sign when it actually gets closer to fall. How could you not find him totally adorable?!
I did practice some self control yesterday…because I kind of have a thing for Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang. They did have some Charlie Brown Christmas theme decor.
I feel like they are nutcrackers but I’m not positive. How cute though!!!!
Finally, if you like classic Christmas animation, I think you might like these cuties.
Rudolph and Clarice!!
If I had a child I would be all over these. I just think they would need them. When I was a kid I had to settle for a Rudolph stuffed animal that only kind of looked like him. Jealous.
I think I just had a little too much fun yesterday exploring Hobby Lobby.
The 1950s called…they wanted to know if they could have their housewife back.
I wish!! There’s a time period I wished I lived in 🙂
This week while I was subbing the class I was in was reading Charlotte’s Web so I got to read them a few chapters. I forgot I liked that book! It was so cute and pretty great to re-live those moments with the kiddos.
Also in positive things this week….mail.
My birthday is next week so my Grandma mailed me a birthday present. Apparently my new obsession with salt and pepper shakers has been conveyed to her because she got me these 2 cute sets!!!!! The came from this old drugstore/old style restaurant where she lives that I love to go to.
Are the pigs not the cutest things you’ve seen?!?! They just made me smile. She also sent me her old George Foreman Grill!!! I’ve been wanting one of these! So, naturally, I already created a Pinterest board so I can make some new recipes. She did really good this year.
When I went to the local grocery store yesterday, the checker randomly gave me a rose. I don’t know why. I think all the women that went in there yesterday received them for some reason. It was nice though. Lastly, the world just needed to know how cute I think that it is when my Grandma mails me something. Ever since I got married, whenever she mails me something she always makes sure to write “Mrs.” and my first and last name. I don’t know if other people find that cute, but I think it’s super sweet and kind of adorable.
I’m kind of a dork and still over the moon about being married 🙂
For the most part, it’s been a pretty good week. There’s my random ramblings.
It’s time for an edition of fun things Friday!! We all know Friday is pretty much the best day of the week so I like to celebrate with showing some “fun” things I’ve seen or done this week.
On Tuesday I went to Target to get the new Star Wars movie on DVD for Marty so naturally I did some browsing of my own. Usually at Target I really shouldn’t be permitted to shop without adult supervision, but don’t worry, I practiced more self control this time.
I was wandering around the home/bedding section and looking at all these super cute sheets, lamps and blankets. They ALL have themes now! Where were these when I was growing up?! Literally ONE TIME I had butterfly sheets and those had to be special ordered. Back in the day, I swear sheets only came in solid colors. Ahh, to be a kid in these modern times 🙂
How cute are the strawberries and the ice cream cones?!
These were just adorable. How sweet are these little critters and flamingos?
Also Target had these insulated water bottle things?? Not real sure what they are, but they were cute so….
I also picked up a new sign for our front door. I don’t think that I will really use it until July, August and September which means I’m still on the hunt for the beginning summer months. Still though! I went running in an old spot that I used to run on Tuesday and I actually ended up doing something that I’ve been wanting to try. I ran a whole 4 miles! 4! Let that sink in. F O U R. How cool am I?!?! I’ve never done that. I’m so excited and proud of myself. Not that I want to run 4 miles all the time; I just wanted to see if I could do it.
Finally, we had this old bed that finally got done being re-stained. I picked it up on Wednesday and drum roll please…….VitaTops will rock your socks! They taste the magic.
Have a fabulous weekend! 🙂
Shopping is so fun 🙂 Especially on spring break. Mom and I ventured to San Antonio Wednesday morning to search out some good finds and fun. This is most of the things we got. Really, I’m most excited about the Snyder’s pretzels (lol) the plastic cups, the Laura Bush book (I’m really itching to read some biographies right now) and the Army green dress we found at Charming Charlie’s.
Did y’all know about Home Goods?! What a neat store! We only have a Marshall’s near were I live, so this was a new place. It’s pretty similar except Home Goods was kind of a Marshall’s on steroids. We got frames for my finished cross stitch patterns so I could hang them around the house and that random Calphon pan with a lid. I was IN NEED of a lid!!! I didn’t realize how many dishes required you to have a pan with a lid.
Also, as I stated previously, it was my first time going into a Whole Foods store. While on this venture, I found these soft pretzels!!!! So, yesterday morning, I baked them 🙂 Turns out they are pretty fantastic.
I also wanna mention this Esty shop before I go. VDazzled is a jewelry shop on Esty by Victoria Pedanou who is a Cancer Biology PhD student. She’s a grad student who creates jewelry in her spare time. Being a girl who loves stud earrings, I think these are spectacular! She does a few other types as well so go check her out 🙂
Side note: Esty is a lovely place.
Part 1: Thursday Night
Last night I made crockpot chicken tacos for dinner. It was super easy. Way too easy actually and they turned out good!!! Thumbs up to myself. I didn’t eat them “taco” style, obviously. I ate mine in a taco salad sort of manner. I added black beans and asparagus into the mix.
Then, after dinner, Marty was watching the Vikings marathon in preparation for the new season starting last night so I went into the bedroom and worked on my cross stitch (which is currently a bunny) and because I’m a 21 year old child, I watched The Easter Bunny is Coming to Town. I wanted to watch Hop, but I don’t have that movie. Y’all, this is seriously THE corniest movie EVER. It was bad. I think I intended to buy Here Come Peter Cottontail, but made this mistake instead. Anyways, I’m currently in the Easter spirit 🙂
Part 2: Friday
Because we all know that I’m obsessed with Which Wich…..I had a bowlwich!!! Today mom and I ate there while I was getting some tire stuff done to my car. Thank goodness, this sub shop was conveniently located directly across the street 😉
In my shopping today I was in search of some dried fruit. I’ve actually never eating an apricot before but the choices were slim pickin’s. So I just kind of went for it and I’m so glad I did because they are actually delicious!!
Lastly, in life-well since Tuesday- I’m trying to find the fun, positive, exciting, uplifting and happy parts of life. I was also in search of today a vase for the flowers Marty got me for Valentine’s Day. I went into Michael’s to see what they had and stumbled upon these adorable lunch-type containers.
They cracked me up!! They had some more components on the inside that had more funny sayings.
Totally adorable and I kind of want them!! The yay! leftovers one was the funniest. I think they were Betsey Johnson or something like that. Anyway, Friday’s are for fun findings 🙂
